Claire Eccles

Biosciences Undergraduate Academic Advisor (MCB, IB, Neuro)

Hometown: Berkeley, CA

Education: BA in Global Studies, Minored in Education and History at UC Santa Barbara

What I did/experiences before Cal? Last year, I worked as an Education Liaison at the Boys & Girls Club of San Francisco, supporting the academic success and well-being of K-12 students with tutoring services and community resources. During my undergrad at UC Santa Barbara, I was a career peer advisor, helping students navigate academic challenges and make informed decisions about their education and career paths. Additionally, I worked at the Student Resource Building which allowed me to become thoroughly familiar with the wide range of resources available on UC campuses.

What you love about Cal and working in the UAO? Growing up in Berkeley and attending its public schools, where UCB students often offered academic support, I'm thrilled to now work in the community I was raised in. Working with students has always been my passion, and I'm excited to continue growing as an advisor, helping students navigate the challenges and joys of college. I'm really looking forward to collaborating with such a welcoming staff and talented students!
Interests: Spend time with friends, bake, walk/hike/backpack, nature, read, food, travel, board games, yoga, TV/movies

Life Motto:  All you need is love and cupcakes :)

Advisor Tip: My top tip for you as an advisor is to get in there early and make the most of what UCB has to offer. Don't be shy about reaching out to professors, GSIs, or your fellow students for help when you need it. Setting up study groups can make a huge difference too, and don't forget to find time to unwind and relax. Taking care of yourself is key, so don't neglect it!
